Support the village partnership Gamauli-Yoshinkhel

Thanks everybody for your help!!!
-----------------
Jennifer, our neighbour and facilitator of Gamauli village, has had the brilliant idea to benefit both villages at the same time by making a partnership based on a concrete need:
It's getting cold now and some of the children in Gamauli village will not be able to attend school over winter as there is no heating and they have no warm clothes. The women of Yoshinkhel make woolen clothes which could help the kids get over winter! Of course we also want to women to get paid for the work they are doing, so that they can benefit at the same time.
What are your ideas? Do you know where we could get a short-term grant for such action or would you simply like to contribute yourself, buying a set of clothes for a needy child in Gamauli, at the same time helping the women of Nabuur make a living?

Dear Jennifer other neighbours

We received another donation this morning that brought us up to the 50% mark. We're halfway to our goal! Keep those donations coming in. I know that we can achieve this.
Thanks so much to everyone who has donated so far.
Jennifer
We received about 4 donations today! That pushed us to the 65% of goal mark-the project has been posted 1 week today. That is absolutely phenomenal! Only $295 to go!
Thanks again to everyone who has supported us this far-every little bit helps!
Jennifer
Hi everyone!
Min was in Gamauli yesterday and was able to present each student with a wool cap made by the women of Yoshinkhel. I heard from him briefly this morning and he is en route back to Kathmandu. He didn't have much of a battery left in his laptop, but he said the children were so happy as well as the parents. We really can't thank you enough for your efforts on behalf of the children at Krishna Primary School. I hope to have pictures from Min soon.
We still hope to raise the remaining $295 to purchase wool for the sweaters, mufflers and gloves as well. If you have been considering how you can make a difference this Christmas season...remember, this project helps not only the children in Gamauli, but also allows the women in Yoshinkhel to bring home a profit from the items they craft.
I have attached a picture from Min of the bag of hats on the way to Gamauli from a couple of days ago.
Please consider making a donation at:

Thanks again!

I think the picture speaks for itself! :) We can't thank you enough for working with us on this project. We still need the last $295 for the sweaters, mufflers and gloves. I'm working hard to get the word out about the project so we can get it done and get the money transferred to Sabina. Thank you again for your help!
We received a large donation this morning to our fundraising project and are now $146 from reaching our goal of $800.
You can help, by posting information about our project to things like your Facebook page, emailing friends, sending out a Tweet via Twitter with a link to our project, etc.

Please continue to help us spread the word about our project.
Here's a little story on Social Actions that I posted about it as well :)

Warm wishes for a very happy and blessed new year!
Jennifer
Yeah, I saw it as well :))) that's wonderful news! I hope the newsletter will also inspire some people in the Xmas spirit...

Hi all-I have really been pushing the last few days to get this last $146 raised by year-end. With 2-more days to go, I was wondering if you all might be able to contribute a story, possibly something about one of the women who worked on the hats for the children in Gamauli, the impact the knitting business has had on her life...maybe a story of how the women felt when they saw the picture of the children at the school with the hats they made??
If one of you would be willing to write something up, I can post it on the Givemeaning site to present the other side of our partnership story. I would really like to be able to do that. The more personal stories are usually very effective in making the project real to the people reading about it that might be considering a donation.
I would also like to post something like this on Facebook to again get people interested. Can one of you guys help with this??
You can email me at jwells18@gmail.com
Thanks in advance! I'm really looking forward to seeing this project through to completion!
Jennifer
Hi Jennifer,
In the storytelling group, Barb has agreed to write up a story about the Gamauli/Yoshinkel collaboration. I don't think she started yet but it may be good for you to contact her (if you haven't done so already) to see if she'd be interested in helping out with this.

(P.S. We sent out a Twitter announcement on the fundraising goal, and I saw a few followers retweeting. Let's cross fingers for the magical powers of social networking :))
I am really happy to report that we have achieved the $800 fundraising goal this morning! I have sent an inquiry to the GiveMeaning support team about the next steps involved in transferring the funds. I am hopeful that we'll be able to get the money transferred as soon as possible. Thanks so much to everyone for your support with votes, telling others about the project and for your kind donations. I can't wait to see pictures of the children when they get the rest of the items!
Thanks again!
Jennifer
