Methods to begin with:
We can find a lot of answers through Nabuur. We will contact the local representative, the facilitator and some village neighbours to answer these questions. This can be done by posting on the site, stating the questions and asking for specific answers.
For Example:
For the ‘What should a day care center in Yoshinkhel look like?’ question-
We will have to contact different day care centers in the Netherlands and search for some in Nepal, preferable in the Himalayas. It also might be smart to look at primary schools in the Netherlands, so we can find ways to educate the children and women. We could contact our old primary schools and try to get some more information by asking our teachers at the OBC.
Furthermore, we can contact organizations like UNICEF and ask for information about how children are educated in developing countries. We should also search for small businesses in Nepal, which is comparable to the ones that have to be set up in Yoshinkhel. It might be more difficult to get good information about how to finance and market this day care center. We could ask the local representative, because she has a master in business studies. Of course that will not be enough. We will have to look for modules and schedules set up by marketing students at, for example, Dutch universities.
Also the visit to a Dutch day care center can provide some information, because the owner of this center can tell us how he or she has dealt with these problems.
In short, we will use these types of methods:
- Historical research
- Descriptive research
- Problem solving research
- Design research
Within these methods we will use:
- The internet
- Books/magazines
- Interviews
- Making contact with organizations and institutes
- Use the models and schemes mentioned above
