Job description

Hi, my name is Nicole Backhaus and I am working as a volunteer on www.nabuur.com.

We are looking for motivated people who would like to make a difference in a small village in Nepal, called Yoshinkhel. This is an Education program for kids aged 5-10. The children are going to be taught by peers (ages 15 to 20).

Title: Volunteer Educator/Teacher

This is an excellent opportunity to begin a career in education, or to give back to the community before going on to graduate school or another professional field.

 Duties: Your position includes teaching Youngsters to teach the children. The youngsters are between the ages of 15 to 20. A curriculum and most of the lesson plans do exist and will help you to get started. Specific areas include math, science, music and movement and English.

Duration: Minimum of 3 Month

Responsibilities:

+ set up lesson plan on daily basis according curriculum
+ discussion of plan with xxx
+ use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect accommodation for individual needs of students assigned.
+ evaluation of performance (our aim is a best practice handbook for future training of further peer teachers)
+ Present a positive role model for students

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Educational background a plus.
+ Skill in verbal communication.
+ A desire and interest in working with children
+ Ability to work with others as part of a team, and to work unsupervised.
+ Willingness to share experience and knowledge in an effort to further the growth of colleagues.
+ Available, dependable, flexible, and reliable
+ Flexibility and creativity in problem solving
