About NABUUR/Partners

Corporate Partners

Our Corporate Partners: the Dutch Postcode Lottery, HIVOS and SIDA share our vision of people-to-people global citizenship. Thanks to their financial support the NABUUR Staff & the NABUUR Internet platform can exist. They make sure that NABUUR is able to build, develop and maintain The Global Neighbour Network.

Postcodeloterij

The Dutch Postcode Lottery is the largest charity lottery in the Netherlands. Fifty percent of its annual gross proceeds is donated to carefully selected charity organisations. NABUUR received a substantial project donation in 2004. This money is used to develop NABUUR into what it is today.
Currently 53 organisations and charities worldwide benefit from the lottery. These include Unicef, Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF), Save the Children, The Red Cross, Terre des Hommes, Clinton Foundation and others. On January 31st all charities together received a donation of a record high of €216.000.000 from the 2006 revenues. Since its launch in 1989, the lottery has paid out over € 2 billion to good causes.

NABUUR is very proud and grateful to be supported by the Dutch Postcode Lottery.

Hivos

Hivos is a Dutch non-governmental organisation inspired by humanist values. Together with local organisations in developing countries, Hivos seeks to contribute to a free, fair and sustainable world in which citizens - women and men - have equal access to the resources and opportunities for their development. And where they can actively and equally participate in decision-making processes that determine their lives, their society and their future.

Hivos believes in the creativity and capacity of individuals. Quality, co-operation and innovation form the core values in Hivos’ philosophy. Hivos is committed to the poor and marginalised in Africa, Asia, Latin America and South-east Europe. A sustainable improvement in their conditions is the ultimate benchmark for Hivos’ work and efforts. The empowerment of women is an essential concern in all its programmes.

Core values:

  • human dignity and self-determination
  • rejection of dogmatism and authoritarian systems
  • pluralism and democracy
  • mutual solidarity
  • responsible citizenship
  • respect for cultural and social identity

NABUUR is one of those HIVOS partner organisations, receiving annual support. Big thanks to HIVOS.

The overall goal of Swedish development cooperation is to contribute to making it possible for poor people to improve their living conditions. By reducing injustices and poverty throughout the world, better opportunities are created for development, peace and security for all people and nations. In an increasingly globalised world we are all dependent on, and affected by, each other.

For several years, Sweden and Sida have been very much involved in the creation and development of both the UN Millennium Development Goals and the Paris Declaration. Historic decisions to promote favourable trends in this area have also been made in Sweden. In December 2003, the Swedish Parliament adopted the Government Bill, Our common responsibility - Sweden's Policy for Global Development (PGU), thus forming the basis for a unified policy to contribute to equitable and sustainable global development. This goal is not limited to Swedish development assistance, but applies to all policy areas.

On behalf of people in developing countries, taking the opportunity to make a step forward, we would like to thank Sida for their continued support.
