Arrow Web Hospital brings affordable health care to Kayole-Soweto, Kenya


Located 25km outside Nairobi’s city center, the urban slum of Kayole-Soweto is home to nearly 800,000 people. Most earn less than a dollar a day.

The village has long been used as a dumping ground for urban waste, which has contributed to the spread of malaria and typhoid. Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS also pose serious threats.

A new school for the impoverished children of Matopeni, Kenya


Two-thirds of the people in Matopeni, Kenya, live in poverty. Children walk 10 kilometers to the nearest public school, usually on empty stomachs. Many others remain out of school, searching dustbins for scraps of food.

To create a future for the children of Matopeni, the community is building a school. Five temporary classrooms crafted from tin sheets now serve 197 local orphans and vulnerable youth. The community hopes to expand the project and build permanent structures to educate
