Third World Countries

The Third World is a word used for all developing countries. It was used for the first time in the 1950‘s to define that these countries did not belong tot the authority of the First World en the Second World: the NAVO en the Warschaupact. Nowadays the term is used for developing countries. Anyhow people try to avoid the word more and more because it sounds as ‘third position’ countries, which of course is not correct.

Situation Third World Countries

Most of the Third World Countries are situated in: Often, these countries where a colony in the past of another nation. The population is often poor and the birthrates are very high. Other characteristics of Third World Countries are high national debt, a lot of illiterates, high death rates, child labour and bad hygiene.

NABUUR & Third World Countries

So it is not strange that NABUUR is active in many Third World Countries. These are the places where help of volunteers is needed the most. In the Third World Countries are Local Representatives active. These people inform NABUUR about a particular problem. The local communities themselves doe not have access to a computer. So that‘s why there is a local representative to communicate with. Sometimes NABUUR offers a computer and digital camera to make it possible to add the village to the Neighbour network.
