Also in other countries than the three most hit areas the tsunami caused casualties. The amount of death and wounded is significant less but the damage also here is enormous.

Other countries and the tsunami

Other countries that were hit by the tsunami are:

Myanmar
Maldives
Malaysia
Somalia

At the Maldives there are even some groups of islands completely over flown. The Maldives exist out of 1190 little islands of which some of them just get above the sea level. The tsunami was also felt in Australia, Kenya, Singapore and even in France at the Island Reunion in Africa where 200 boats sunk.

Casualties outside the tsunami area

Besides the big amount of casualties that lives in the countries hit by the tsunami, a lot of people being temporary in the area died of got wounded. For example people out of Sweden, Germany, the United Kingdom, Finland and so on.

The tsunami had a grip on the whole world. News channels got overloaded with messages about the tsunami and the situation in the affected areas. Help was called in and appeared out of many countries. The rebuilding is started and slowly the local communities try to get a grip on their lives.
